Happy Valentine’s Day!

written by Laurie February 14, 2012

Wanted to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day. The earliest signs of spring are here: the first daffodil buds are forming, the narcissus are almost done for the winter, and buds are starting to appear on the plum tree. It’s been a mild, dry winter compared to last year’s record rainfall.

Many blogs are celebrating Valentine’s Day today. Velvet Rose was included on Carol’s Valentine’s rose bouquet on The Muse In Wooden Shoes. I love a number of her mentions, including L’Arte di Gucci, Francis Kurkdjian Lumiere Noire pour femme, and Caron Parfum Sacre. So many rose scents to love. 🙂

I’m working on the forest scent, and a unisex musky sandalwood rose, and the tweak to Champagne.

I was already looking forward to the forest scent with great anticipation. And now we learn about the musky sandalwood rose…. so many pleasures ahead! By the way, I spent Valentine’s day happily wrapped in SSS Velvet Rose. Ummmm, lovely….. :^)

Thanks, Suzanne! Valentine’s Day calls for roses. 🙂

Right now I’m contemplating how to extend the green aspects of the hemlock in the forest scent. The musky/woodsy parts are long lasting, but the needle-like topnotes die down after an hour or two, and I’d love to try to keep that feeling going longer. The fir absolute helps, but there’s a limit to how much fir I can use because of the sweet jammy nature it has (I don’t want the forest too sweet). I’m trying various vetivers right now to see if they help.
