PerfumeSonoma Scent Studio Updates

Summer Sniffing

written by Laurie July 10, 2009

Sonoma Scent Studio’s Champagne de Bois was included in today’s Top 10 Summer Perfumes list on Perfume Smellin’ Things. Each writer for the blog named one favorite scent he or she is wearing this summer — thanks Linda! And thanks Marina!

So far this summer I’ve not had a chance to wear scents other than what I’m testing (mostly my scents in development but also some scents that are new to me from other lines), but I enjoy vetiver when it’s warm. That’s one more reason Rappleyea is on to something with her vetiver suggestion in the comments for the Scent Blending post below because it can be a way to tone down the sweetness of floral notes and make them more enjoyable in summer. I also like light florals and musks this time of year, and sometimes a heavier scent is fun on warm summer evenings.

On a personal note, my Mom had a back injury a bit over a week ago at the same time I was hit with something that requires a lot of paperwork; I’m worried about my Mom because she’s in bad shape and is still getting worse instead of stabilizing, but we’re trying to get her better help from her doctors. So, things are a bit crazy here right now and I probably won’t be making much progress on business things for a bit, but I’ll keep checking in. The post on PST today was cheering. 🙂

You are ever so welcome — I adore it. In fact, I am dying for a full bottle and have been haunting your site, since my little decant is almost gone!

Best of luck to you and your mom during this difficult time, and my best wishes for a quick recovery for her.

Hi Linda! Thanks so much! I’m hoping my Mom improves soon too — it’s unusual to see something knock her flat like this.

I should be able to get a Champagne bottle to you even if the cart isn’t back up for a while yet. We can do it before your decant runs out anyway. Glad you’re enjoying it and thanks again!

I saw the listing as well – congrats! You know I’m a huge fan.

I also send my thoughts for a speedy recovery for your Mom.

Hi Laurie,

Congratulations on making the top 10 list @ PST! I’m a regular reader there (just now found out so better go and put in my 2 cents…) As you know, I love CdB as well – BIG sillage on me [which I don’t mind at all (:8)] especially when the feedback is generally positive.
So sorry to hear about your mother – I’ll include her in my prayer.
BTW – I’m REALLY enjoying my Cameo!!!

Have a nice weekend.

Many thanks Rappleyea!

Thank you too AnnYM and I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying Cameo! I only had a chance to ship out a few Cameo bottles and samples before I had to take the cart down, so I really need to give it a better send-off once I have things back up again. I’m enjoying Cameo myself right now in between scent testing; the softness of it feels good at the moment.

Hi Laurie,

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother! I hope the injury isn’t too serious and that she begins to feel better soon.

I was thrilled to see one of your fragrances make the top ten list at PST! Lieu de Reves and Cameo are on my top ten.

Good luck with everything!

Ann C

Hi Laurie

I just wanted to stop by and tell you that I loved the samples I ordered from you. In fact, Vintage Rose is my most favorite rose fragrance of all time. I’ve never smelled a rose done so beautifully and passionately as this. You truly have a gift.

I hope things get better for you and your mother.

Sending positive thoughts,
Dea

Hi Dea! I’m so glad you enjoyed your samples and found a favorite in Vintage Rose. My Mom is doing much, much better and all should be well. I’m really relieved (she had us worried there). So I’m back to my big project but making headway and hope to put the cart up within a few weeks. I don’t know my schedule yet but will let people know when I can. Meantime I’m available via email. Thanks so much for your good wishes!
